2008-MAY-09: The scam gets preliminary approval in the state Senate.
2008-MAR-20: The House voted for carbon offsets. These people just don't listen. I see no solution but to vote them out.
My testimony is here.
It's a lot longer than my first version because while I sat stewing through that first farce I heard a lot of nonsense I needed to rebut.
As a precaution I had emailed my testimony to the committee members and to a few other Reps and to my state Senator.
At the first hearing no opponents were heard from and no ordinary citizens were heard from. At the continuation they corrected both of these failings. They called me first. (I had thought Dave Noel also got to speak but I don't find him in my videos.)
Corporate interests opposed to the bill also got a hearing. You can read all about them at the Union Leader.
There was a woman there representing some church groups supporting the bill. I think this was the same one who requested a copy of my (original) testimony last time while I was speaking to Naida Kaen. She didn't seem to have made use of it.
Evaluating my own performance, I think I did mostly well but I'll pay more attention next time to what shirt I put on in the morning. During the questioning Rep Fargo shot me a snide remark that threw me for a moment. I gave him an initial response that could be construed as smart alecky. I think I recovered okay though. Rep Garrity gave me some very encouraging words.
I'm feeling much better about things now. There's been a bit of a sea change. I'm not sure what to attribute it to.
Here's video of my testimony:
And here's how they received it:
